The Illuminati is one of the most mysterious and most powerful secret societies to have ever existed in recent history. So, where did it come from? Who created it? Does it still exist today and what is the link to Freemasonry? Illuminati is a Latin word meaning the plural of illuminatus or enlightened and historically refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati.
You may hear the Illuminati and Freemasonry being called “Luciferian” and particular links to what was the Lucifer Trust (now Lucis Trust). This is because (in biblical terms) Lucifer is the Angel of Light and the Bringer of Knowledge. Hence we describe people who are intelligent “bright” Another word for bright is of course, illuminated. The Illuminati symbol is similar: ☉ which represents the sun.
The Bavarian Illuminati was founded by Adam Weishaupt (1748 – 1830) on the 1st of May 1776 as a secret order of students and intellectuals whose ideals included the establishment of a New World Order and the abolishment of monarchical governments and religions. The Illuminati believed themselves to be truly intellectual and possess a complete understanding of human life.
They believed they were the only people with the knowledge, mental capabilities and insight to govern the world and bring peace. Interestingly, the founding date is the same year as the American Independence as marked on the pyramid of the Great Seal of the American dollar.
Previous to the Illuminati, Weishaupt was educated in a Jesuit college in law, economics, politics, history and philosophy. After graduating from the University of Ingolstadt in 1768 with a doctorate of law, he became a professor of civil law and after the pope suppressed the Society of Jesus in 1773, he became a professor of canon law. In 1774 Weishaupt joined the Freemasons but became disillusioned and dropped out.
On the 1st of May 1776, Weishaupt founded his Illuminati. Seeking a way of increasing numbers and furthering the ideals of the Illuminati, in 1777 Weishaupt was initiated into the Masonic Lodge “Theodor zum guten Rath” in Munich. Weishaupt and his Illuminati were successful in the infiltration and “Illumination” of Masonic ideals and the Munich Lodge fell into Illuminati control in 1779. The Frankfurt Lodge then gave the “Illuminated” Munich Lodge the authority to establish daughter lodges, which they did. By 1782 the Order numbered about 300 and is said to have included those such as Goethe and Mozart. In 1783 the Illuminati had spread to Bohemia, Milan and to Hungary and numbered nearly 3000. The members conducted their activities under assumed names, Weishaupt called himself “Spartacus” fellow Illuminist Baron Von Knigge adopted the name “Philo”. On this note, there are many who believe Adam Weishaupt to be a false name itself, Adam means “first man” Weis means “to know” and Haupt means “leader” so the name can be translated to either “The first man to lead those who know” or “The first man to know the leader” Which translation is most accurate is still the subject of much debate.
In 1784 one of the Illuminati’s highest Initiates defected and made public some sensationalistic stories about his experiences and as a consequence, the Bavarian government issued an edict condemning Freemasons and the Illuminati for allegedly plotting to overthrow the European kings. A further edict banned all secret societies. Weishaupt then fled Bavaria and settled in Gotha. While in exile, Weishaupt produced a series of works on Illuminism, including “A Complete History of the Persecutions of the Illuminati in Bavaria” (1785), “A Picture of Illuminism” (1786), “An Apology for the Illuminati” (1786), and “An Improved System of Illuminism” (1787). He died on the 18th of November, 1830 aged 82. The Illuminati is said to have vaporized after the government edict but it is widely speculated that societies with so many members all in positions of power and holding common goals do not disappear so easily. There are a great many people who believe the Illuminati are still in existence today and the controlling families such as the Morgan, Rothschild and Rockefeller banking cartels along with the powerful heads of industry are continuing the goals as laid out by Adam Weishaupt.

The Bilderberg group meet once every year the attendees are the most powerful people in the world such as Robert L. Bartley (Editor, Wall Street Journal), Samuel R Berger (Assistant to the President for Security Affairs), Lee H. Hamilton (Congressman), Colin L. Powell (Former Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff), Lesley R. Stahl (National Affairs Correspondent, CBS) and you can be sure there are many others in government positions as well as the heads of the worlds most powerful corporations in attendance. The meetings are held in a different location every year and are attended by only those directly invited by the group. Media and the public are strictly forbidden from entering the location of the meetings and the security is of course, very heavy.

The German-style abbreviation of "Bavarian Illuminati" is the B. Ill. or simply BIll. Members of the American lodge frequently identified themselves in secret communications by using the name Bill. The official designation for the American Lodge is the "Secret American Daughter-organization of the Illuminated Seers," that is, the "Geheime Amerikanische Tochtergenossenschaft der Erleuchteten Seher," or G.A.T.E.S. Taking it further to the design of the seal on the American dollar, the numerical value of Bill in Hebrew AND Greek is 72, which is the number of divisions in the Illuminati pyramid. Gates (in Hebrew) is 78, which is 13x6. Thus "Bill Gates" is a description of the pyramid, 72 divisions, 13 levels, and 6 sides (including the flat top where the eye in the triangle sits). There are also 6 occurences of the number 13 in the second part of the seal on the right side of the note. There are 13 stars at the top, 13 letters to the phrase “E Pluribus Unum”, 13 Olive leaves, 13 Olives on the branch, 13 arrows and 13 stripes on the crest.
The meaning behind 13 is taken to be a reference to the 13 original colonies of America, but the number can also symbolize the 13 bloodlines of the Illuminati. Those being the Astor, Bundy, Collins, DuPont, Freeman, Kennedy, Li, Merovingian, Onassis, Rockefeller, Rothschild, Russell and the Van Duyn families. Whichever way you choose to look at it, the history of the Illuminati is an interesting one and the current political climate and nature of proposed government policies certainly leans toward the old Illuminati ideals. Whether you believe it to be the manipulation of society and government by hidden groups with secret agendas or not, the social and political world is changing.
