Hello Everyone,

My subject matter may seem a little unimportant and not very relevant, however i would really appreciate any ones input in regards to this matter.

A friend of mine is going to be a bridesmaid and she has been given the dress by the bride already, she also has an upcoming event prior to the wedding and she would like to wear her bridesmaids dress to this event as well, the bride is unimpressed with this as she fears something may happen to the dress and feels it wont be as special for her when she wears it on the wedding day, my friend the bridesmaid has consulted me on the matter, i said i would get a wider opinion from a variety of people and get back to her. i welcome any feedback

thank you

Its completely a bad thing to do, what if she has someone spill a drink on it or it tears or something happens, trips and falls in the mud, next thing there are no more of that dress available and she's messed up the wedding
Very very bad idea

I always figured its an unwritten rule that you never, ever wear a bridesmaid dress out before the wedding but you can do what you want with it after (so long as its given to you)

The bride is completely within her rights to tell her not to wear it
Aside from it being not special as its been worn already, its WAY too big a risk

IMO the bride chose your friend to be a bridesmaid because it meant a lot to her, being asked to be a bridesmaid is a pretty big honour , and one of the jobs is to help keep the bride happy -it is HER big day after all .
I would be worried about the risks of something happening to the dress as well, if something was to happen to it , after the bride has specifically said she can't wear it out , then it could potentionally ruin a good friendship -weddings being so nerve racking and all, and that would be sad .
Besides, by your friend NOT wearing the dress, it gives a great excuse to go shopping ! not that there ever needs to BE an excuse ;)

Have to agree with the above posters comments. It's very much a 'save it for the big day' situation...
